Stitch Update

October 28th, 2007 · No Comments

Me and my plasterIf you remember from my post A Stitch in Time… the doctor told Mummy and Daddy to take the plaster off after two days to let air get to the cut. Sure enough, after two days the plaster is off and here is my stitch in all its glory.

Until next time, bye bye.

A Stitch in Time…

October 26th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Photo of me wearing my plasterWell! Did we have an eventful evening yesterday?

I was walking around the house as I usually do when I fell over. Normally this is not a problem but this time I banged my head against the corner of a wall. I didn’t like this and I’m not ashamed to admit that I started to cry. Mummy came to pick me up and we discovered that red stuff was pouring out of my head! Mummy passed me to Daddy who tried to calm me down whilst Mummy fetched a cold compress. During this time Daddy and I both got covered in red stuff. Daddy held the compress to my head and after a couple of minutes I stopped crying and the red stuff stopped leaking out of me.

Mummy and Daddy decided to take me to the local health centre as they thought I might need stitches. At the health centre we were told that they didn’t do paediatrics and that we should go to the health centre in the next town. We all thought that this was fair enough as our centre is only small and I wasn’t leaking any more.

At the next health centre we patiently cued (as English people are wont to do - though Mummy and Daddy would have pushed in if there was a problem) when the lady in front said we could go ahead of her. Next minute it was our turn when out of the blue, and travelling at a surprising rate of knots, a little old lady pushed in front of us. Mummy and Daddy were shocked and just stood there looking at each other when our Catalan friend behind us waded in and told the old lady off saying things like “can’t you see this baby is hurt?” After an argument our friend was declared the winner on a technical knock-out and we got seen by the receptionist. We were told to go upstairs and wait outside Room 4 were we would be called when the doctor was free. We hadn’t even got to the door when my name was called out. Now that is fast.

The doctor looked at my wound and said that I would need a stitch. He didn’t want to give an anasthetic something to numb me as it would hurt more than the stitch would. He proceed to operate on me whilst I was sitting on Daddy’s lap and the whole thing was over before I really got crying. The doctor put a plaster on me, gave another to Mummy with instructions to change it tomorrow, remove the plaster in two days and come in eight days to have the stitch taken out.

We then went home. The time taken between falling over to getting back to our house was one and a half hours. Not bad considering we went to two clinics.

I had a good night’s sleep and as you can see by the picture, the whole episode hasn’t ruined my appetite for my breakfast.

Until next time, bye bye.

Better Now!

October 16th, 2007 · No Comments

Me at a barrier on a damI’m feeling much better now that my cold has finally gone away. I don’t like being ill. One good thing that came out of this is that I’ve found out that I’m a very generous person; I gave my cold to Mummy, Daddy, Grandma and Mormor!

Now that I’m better I’m able to go out and about. Mummy and Daddy took me to a local beauty spot yesterday and I saw my first rezervoir reservwor dam. It was very pretty and I was able to walk along the top. The picture (I borrowed Mormor’s camera) shows me enjoying my day out (and trying to get under a no entry barrier).

Until next time, bye bye.

My First Cold

October 9th, 2007 · No Comments

I was going to write about my wonderful week with Grandma and Granddad, or about my first words, or my walking, or my trip abroad. I even have some photos to show you.

Unfortunately I’m 24 hours into my first cold and feeling totally miserable so it will all have to wait.
Mummy isn’t feeling too good either so hopefully we will both get better soon.

Until next time, bye bye.

Stop Press: My First Word

September 27th, 2007 · No Comments

I have just said my first word!

Is it Mummy? No.

Is it Daddy? No.

It’s “ni”!

Ni is the Danish word for nine. Mummy was doing numbers with me and was counting up to ten. When she got to otte (eight) I said “ni”. We  are all very excited. I did it again and again and even when I was asked “What comes after eight” I said “ni”.

Got to go and practice this new found ability.

Until next time, bye bye.

The Sin Bin

September 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Inspired by the Rugby World Cup, Mummy and Daddy have devised a sin bin penalty for when I do something I shouldn’t (usually standing up against the patio door and banging on the glass - fun for me but dangerous; it’s a single pane door). First of all I get a warning and moved away from the scene of the crime. If I go back then it’s the sin bin for ten minutes. The sin bin is my playpen!

Mummy and Daddy realise that I haven’t yet grasped the concept of “no” so the sin bin is not really a punishment but more of a distraction. It stops me from carrying on doing what I shouldn’t be doing.

On a different note. I had curry for the first time last Friday when I was invited to Uncle Bert and Aunty Rita’s birthday party. I had a really nice time although Uncle Bert told me off for not posting more pictures on this blog. I explained that my camera is broken but he has a point - I should be clever enough to have fixed it by now.

I’ll just pop myself in the sin bin for ten minutes :)

Until next time, bye bye.

Happy Anniversary Mummy and Daddy

September 18th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Today is Mummy and Daddy’s second wedding anniversary so congratulations to them both.

Two years ago they were having champagne breakfasts in a Las Vegas hotel before being chauffeured to the wedding chapel. In the evening there was a helecopter flight over The Strip and dinner in Ceasar’s Palace.

This year it’s changing my nappies!! :)

They are going out for dinner but don’t worry, they are not leaving me on my own - I’m being baby sat by Mormor and Morfar.

Until next time, bye bye

The Tap!

September 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I just had to tell you about something exciting I discovered last night.

Did you know that there’s this thing in the bath called a tap? Did you know that water comes out of it and you can splash your hand in and out of it? I found all this out last night. I mean, of course I’d noticed the tap and the water before, but this was the first time I played with it. Later, when I stood up to be properly sponged off, I managed to turn the tap on! Then Mummy turned it off but I just laughed and turned it back on again. The water that came out was a little cold but it was still fun. I also wee-ed on the floor while I was waiting for the water to heat up for my bath. Mummy didn’t think that was as much fun as when I played with the tap.

Until next time, bye bye

PS My camera isn’t very well at the moment, that’s why you haven’t seen as many pictures of me lately. I’m sure it will be all right again soon.

I can walk! I can walk!

I just took FIVE steps all by myself. Oh wow!

Then I got so excited I had to go and lie down.

When I wake up I’m sure I’ll be trying to take more. Go me!
