Apparently there’s something going on at the moment called Christmas, which means I will soon be getting presents! I understand that there are also a lot of special foods involved (no use to me) and lights and cards and songs. It all sounds like fun and when I’m older I’m sure I’ll be looking forward to it just as much as everyone else. But now back to the presents.
Mummy and Daddy (who didn’t give their colds to me) took me shopping earlier this week for my first Christmas presents. The problem is that there aren’t many toys for me to play with at my age and so options were rather limited. Mummy said, very sensibly, that we could get some things for me now and then wait and get more toys for me down the road. I like this idea!
Daddy really wanted to get me a little seat since I’m squirming out of my car seat when it’s in the house and when I’m in my pram I can’t really see Mummy and Daddy. Unfortunately most baby seats are only for suitable for babies weighing up to 9kg and I think I’ve already passed that benchmark. Other seats were for babies who already know how to sit up by themselves and I don’t.
In the end, I’m getting an ‘inflatable evolutionary play environment’ which Mummy thinks is a very funny name for a blow-up playpen. Toys can attach to it and I can kick them with my feet (they have suddenly become a lot more interesting!) and later I’ll be able to sit up and play with the toys. At the moment I can either lay back or rest against the sides in a semi-reclined position.
I’m also getting some toys that will wrap around the bar of my car seat so I have something to look at and play with when we’re out and about. When my pram becomes a push-chair I can also tie them to the front bar.
At the moment I enjoy playing with the calculator and Mummy sometimes tries to tempt me with a wooden spoon.
I’m looking forward to this Christmas thing.
Thank you to everyone who has sent me cards. Until next time, bye bye
