I’m now two months old and have recently started doing a whole bunch of things I never used to. Let me take you through my exciting new developments.
It’s been about a month since I gave my first real smile to Mormor but now I smile all the time. I smile and I gurgle and I really like waving my arms about. I’ve also become much more interested in the mobile that hangs above my pram; I reach out and hit the little animals hanging down from it and sometimes I’ll grab hold of them. I’ve also got a multi-coloured cat from some people called Lamaze that has rings and a ball with a bell on it. I can grab the rings and pull them towards me and when I bash the ball it makes a tinkling sound. This means I’m able to keep myself entertained for small periods of time. I’ve also discovered that Mummy’s hair is fun to grab hold of.
In other news, I’ve started lifting up my arms when I want to be picked up. I don’t do this all the time, so don’t get disappointed if you’re leaning over me and I don’t reach up to you! And a few times when I’ve been sitting with Daddy I’ve shown that I wanted to go to Mummy because I was hungry. I have to be careful doing this too much or Daddy will start to have self-esteem issues. At the moment we’re watching the cricket together and I’m trying to walk up Daddy’s tummy.
I also follow Mummy and Daddy around the room with my eyes and I simply stunned the doctor when Daddy told her that I am sleeping through the night. I’ll have one or two moments during the night when I’m about to wake up but Mummy soothes me back to sleep by putting her hand on my stomach and making cooing noises. So I sleep through the night but Mummy still doesn’t. But it will come.
I can hold my head up a lot longer than I used to and I’ve started standing up and splashing about in my Tummy Tub. Daddy does standing up exercises with me almost every day and I’m so proud of myself when I manage to stand up. Daddy’s holding me up, of course, but I push myself up and I’m a standing boy. I’ve got a lot more strength in my back and neck and Mormor says my best position for pictures is when I’m over someone’s shoulder raising my head up. You can see in my last post what that looks like.
I used to only go to sleep while feeding but now I can sometimes fall asleep on my own. Sometimes at night I’ll have my food and my burp and then either Mummy or Daddy will sit with me until I go to sleep. Sometimes I wake up after I’ve been put to bed and sometimes I go back to sleep on my own. Sometimes I need a cuddle.
I think that’s all my progress for now. So far it’s fun being me.
Until next time, bye bye
