I went to see my paediatrician (from now on to be called “baby doctor”) for the first time yesterday. I can’t say that I particularly enjoyed the experience although she was very nice, very efficient and very professional. I just didn’t enjoy being poked, prodded and having things stuck into my mouth and ears. To be honest my appointment coincided with my normal feeding time so I was one unhappy chappie.
My baby doctor checked my reflexes by sitting me up and then pushing me back suddenly (catching me of course) to see if my arms would shoot out to the side - they did. She held me in the air on my tummy to see if my arms would hang down - they did. She tried to make me walk and crawl but to be honest I was getting a bit fed up of all of this by now so I just lay there crying. Mummy told her that I can do all of this so that’s ok.
My baby doctor then checked to see if my neck muscles were developing, she looked inside my mouth and my ears. I was then weighed and measured.
After all of the tests I was pronounced to be perfect (I could have told her that over the phone) and my vital statistics are:
- Weight = 4.83 kgs (10.65 lbs)
- Length = 56.5 cms (22.24 inches)
I have to go back in a month’s time for another check up and something called vaccinations. Not too sure what that is but it sounds fun. I could do with a holiday!
Until next time, bye bye.

[…] I also got weighed. According to the electronic scales I now weigh 5.120 Kgs (a 290g increase from last Thursday). After class it was time to go home (actually we went to the mall in Girona to get baby clothes - I slept through it all). My midwife told us that was can always call ’round to the clinic if we have any questions or problems but now that I have my own paediatrician we probably won’t (* touch wood *). […]
