Yesterday was my first whole day at home - the first day that Mummy and Daddy had to look after me without my midwife and nurses around.
It was brilliant!
We all woke up at about 7:30. Daddy changed me whilst Mummy got herself ready to nurse me (which involves sitting on the sofa, wrapping my nursing cushion around her and finding something to watch on the television). Daddy passed me to Mummy and I started to feed.
I take quite a long time to eat. Mummy read that some babies feed like they are at a fast food joint whilst others approach food like a nine course meal. I definately fall into the second category. I like to eat my milk savouring every drop. I’ll eat for a bit then pause for a while lying in Mummy’s arms. Perhaps she’ll burp me or just hold me and then I’ll start again. Nursing can take up to an hour, maybe more. Mummy told me that the average feed is 20 minutes. Some babies must be really fast!
Daddy had to go and see a client, then do the shopping so it was just me and Mummy for a few hours. I really like that. I love Daddy but for some reason he can’t lactate so being with Mummy is much more satisfying!
I nursed, slept and talked with Mummy until it was time for Daddy to take the dog for a walk. I went too! I’ve been outside before but this time I stayed awake. It’s big out there . A lot of sky!
When we got back I had a sleep and stayed sleeping even while Mummy and Daddy had dinner. I know they appreciated that.
Later it was time for me to have my bath; the first time for Mummy and Daddy. They were really good at it. They did everything that my midwife had shown them and I really love my tummy tub. Mummy and Daddy even sang me a song that Daddy made up. He calls it the “Tummy Tub” song.
One more feed then it was time to go to bed as we were all very sleepy. Mummy put me into my Amby Baby at about 10:45 and I promptly fell asleep. I didn’t wake up until 6:30 the following morning. I like my Amby Baby. Mummy and Daddy love it!
All in all it was a great first day at home.
Until next time, bye bye.

[…] As Daddy can’t get back to sleep and as I can take a while to eat (as explained here), Mummy and Daddy are experimenting with getting up and then having a snooze later on in the day. Yesterday didn’t work out too well for them as they had a lot of things to do and couldn’t snooze until about 2:30pm. Today they are hoping for a mid-day nap. […]
