Natural Methods of Induction

August 10th, 2006 · No Comments

I’m bored!

As I mentioned in my previous post I sould be coming out today but as I’ve obviously got time on my hands I thought I’d do some research on induction and natural methods of induction at that (I’ll leave medical methods for when I’m really late).

It didn’t take much research before I started finding out about nipple stimulation, castor oil, something called sex, eating pineapple, homeopathy, herbal remedies, eating curry, acupuncture, red raspberry leaf and walking.

I have posted about how the doctor has told Mummy to walk a lot and Mummy has mentioned eating pineapple (although she has to eat seven of the things) and I think the sex thing (what’s that about?) has been discussed but some of the other ideas are new to me. I found out about all of them in this Natural Ways to Bring on Labour: a Guide on the BabyCentre website. Very interesting!
Other sites with information about natural ways of induction are:

Life Passages
Tree Hugger Mums
Gentle Birth

I found the last link to be a bit difficult to follow but I love this warning:

“There is a vegetable oil called CASTOR Oil, which is sometimes used to get labor going or for other medicinal purposes. There is a petroleum product, i.e. motor oil, called Castrol Oil, which could be toxic. Please do not confuse them!”

Whilst we are on the subject of warnings. Please remember that I am only a baby. You are the grown up so it is up to you to be careful about the recommendations that you follow.

Until next time, bye bye.
