I’m going to try and quickly get you up to speed with what’s been happening.
For the last eight months or so I’ve been growing inside Mummy’s tummy. She has been really good to me, providing me with a warm, safe and healthy place to develop and grow. I’ve paid this kindness back by making her feel sick, hot, tired, swelly and by kicking her bladder and other squishy bits for fun! She says that she doesn’t mind and is really enjoying me being here.
I must admit that I was getting a bit bored, especially now that I’ve grown and there’s not much room in here. For a change of scenery I’ve started moving down mummy’s tummy, dramatically changing her profile. The doctor told her that she should walk around more (even though it really hurt her at the time) to help me move down and that really did the trick. Walking doesn’t hurt her now so I’ve caused little contractions to start instead. The technical term is Braxton Hicks contractions but Mummy calls them Ouch!
The best bit about these contractions is the look on Daddy’s face when they happen. He’s not too sure whether to run to comfort Mummy or run to start the car. A friend of theirs told them that she reckoned that Mummy only had ten days to go and that was last week so Daddy’s convinced that every movement I make is the onset of labour. Winding him up is so fun.
According to the doctor, everything is going well and I’m developing normally. My Estimated Due Date is 10th August – 19 days away. We are all going to go and see him next Tuesday so perhaps we will find out if this is still the case. Whilst I like it in here I can’t wait to meet Mummy and Daddy and I know they can’t wait to meet me.
With 19 days to go there is plenty of time to tell you in more detail everything that has been going on. So until next time, bye bye.

Hope you don’t require a Caesarian to come out like I did

Hi Mathew, its Grandma or Nana, I cant realy say which one yet as I havnt disscused it yet with your other Grandma or Nana and that might even have two n’s. Do me a favour will you, and dont take as long as your Daddy did to come out. Its not much fun for anybody, you included. Here in Spain the phrase they use for giving birth is “Dar a Luz” which means “give a light” I think that is a lovely expression, it is realy light out here and also I am sure you will be a little shiney one. Just one other thing, if you could hang on untill the 13th, you would be born on your Grandad Colin’s birthday which would be very nice for you Daddy.See you soon, lots of love.

Hi Mathew, I have just read your decision on what to call your Grandparents, and thats fine by us. As you are also going to be born in Spain to add to your list of country connections, I thought of Abuelos, but its a bit of a mouthful isnt it. You are a bit of a chatterbox aren’t you, but I must say what you talk about is very interesting and clever. Most of us have foregoten all about this part of pre birth. Keep it up, bye for now.
